Be a Generous Man
(너그러운 사람이 되라)
Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.
(그의 입술이 삐뿔어진 어리석은 자보다 그의 걸음이 떳떳하고 가난한 사람이 되는 것이 나으니라.)
It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.
(지식없이 열의를 갖는 것이 좋지 않으며, 성급하여 길을 잃는 것도 좋지 않으니라.)
A man's own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD.
(사람 자신의 어리석음이 인생을 망치게 하나, 그의 마음은 여호와께 대하여 분노하느니라.)
Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man's friend deserts him.
(재물은 많은 친구를 데려오나, 가난한 사람의 친구는 그를 버리느니라.)
A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will not go free.
(거짓된 증인은 처벌을 면하지 못할 것이며, 거짓말을 쏟아내는 자도 벌을 면하지 못할 것이니라.)
Many curry favor with a ruler, and everyone is the friend of a man who gives gifts.
(많은 사람들이 통치자의 비위를 맞추려고 하고, 모든 사람은 선물을 주는 자의 친구가 되느니라.)
A poor man is shunned by all his relatives - how much more do his friends avoid him! Though he pursues them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.
(가난한 사람은 그의 모든 친척들의해 꺼려지나니, 얼마나 훨씬 더 그의 친구들이 그를 피하겠느냐! 그가 간청하며 그들을 쫓을 지라도, 그들은 어디에서도 발견되지 않느니라.)
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul； he who cherishes understanding prospers.
(지혜를 얻는 사람은 그 자신의 영혼을 사랑하며, 깨달음을 소중히 하는 사람은 번영하느니라.)
A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will perish.
(거짓된 증인은 처벌을 면치 못할 것이며, 거짓말을 쏟아내는 자는 멸명할 것이라.)
It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury - how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!
(어리석은 자가 사치스럽게 사는 것이 적합하지 않으니, 하물며 노예가 왕자들을 통치하는 것은 얼마나 더 나쁜가!)
A man's wisdom gives him patience； it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
(사람의 지혜는 그에게 인내심을 주나니, 죄를 용서해 주는 것이 그의 영광이 되느니라.)
A king's rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
(왕의 분노는 사자의 포효과 같으나, 그의 은혜는 풀 위의 이슬과 같으니라
A foolish son is his father's ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.
(어리석은 아들은 그 아버지의 폐망이며, 다투기 좋아하는 아내는 끊임없이 떨어지는 물방울과 같으니라.)
Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
(집들과 재물은 부모로부터 상속되어지나, 신중한 아내는 하나님으로부터 상속되느니라.)
Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the shiftless man goes hungry.
(게으름은 깊은 잠을 가져오며, 꿈과 야망이 없은 사람은 배고파지느니라.)
He who obeys instructions guards his life, but he who is contemptuous of his ways will die.
(지시에 복종하는 사람은 그의 생명을 지키나, 그의 마땅한 행동 방식을 경멸하는 사람은 죽으리라.)
He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.
(가난한 사람에게 친절한 사람은 여호와께 빌려주는 것이니, 여호와께서 그가 행한 대로 그에게 보상하실 것이니라.)
