Discipline for Wise Education
(지혜로운 교육을 위해 훈육하라)
The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.
(교정의 매는 지혜를 주나, 제멋대로 남겨진 아이는 그의 어미를 수치스럽게 하느니라.)
When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall.
(악한 자가 번영할 때, 죄도 번영하나, 의로운 자는 악인들의 몰락을 볼 것이니라.)
Discipline your son, and he will give you peace； he will bring delight to your soul.
(네 아들을 훈육하라, 그러면 그가 네게 평화를 줄 것이며, 그가 네 영혼에 기쁨을 가져올 것이라.)
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint； but blessed is he who keeps the law.
(계시가 없는 곳에는, 백성들이 방종하게 행동하나, 율법을 지키는 자는 복이 있도다.)
A servant cannot be corrected by mere words； though he understands, he will not respond.
(하인은 단순한 말로 교정이 될 수 없으니, 왜냐하면, 그가 이해할 지라도, 그는 도무지 반응하지 않기 때문이니라.)
Do you see a man who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
(너는 성급하게 말하는 사람을 보았느냐? 그보다 어리석은 자에게 희망이 더 있느니라.)
If a man pampers his servant from youth, he will bring grief in the end.
(만약 사람이 어려서부터 그의 하인을 애지중지하면, 그가 결국에는 슬픔을 가져오느니라.)
