Moral Benefits of Wisdom
(지혜의 이익들)

My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
(내 아들아, 만약 네가 나의 말을 받아들이고 네 안에 나의 명령의 쌓아 둔다면,)

turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,
(너의 귀를 지혜로 돌리고, 너의 마음을 깨달음에 전념하고,)

and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
(그리고 네가 통찰력을 얻기 위해 부르짖고, 깨달음을 얻기 위해 크게 외치면,)

and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
(그리고 네가 그것을 은을 찾는 것 같이 찾고 숨겨진 보물을 찾는 것처럼 찾는다면,)

then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
(그렇다면, 너는 여호와를 두려워하는 것을 이해할 것이고 하나님의 지혜를 찾게 될 것이라.)

For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
(왜냐하면, 여호와는 지혜를 주시며, 그리고 그의 입에서는 지혜와 깨달음이 나오기 때문이니라.)

He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
(그는 정직한 자들을 위해 승리를 쌓아 두시며, 그는 그 걸음이 흠이 없는 자들에게 방패가 되시니,)

for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
(그는 공의로운 자들의 길을 인도하시며, 그의 충실한 사람들의 길을 보호하시기 때문이라.)

Then you will understand what is right and just and fair - every good path.
(그러하면, 너는 옳은 것과 공의로운 것과 공평한 것을 즉 모든 선한 길을 이해할 것이니라.)

For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
(지혜가 네 마음에 들어올 것이고, 지식이 네 영혼에 즐거울 것이기 때문이라.)

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
(근신이 너를 보호할 것이며, 깨달음이 너를 지킬 것이라.)

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
(지혜는 너를 악한 자들의 길에서 구하며, 그 말이 삐뚤어진 자들로부터 너를 구할 것이며,)

who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways,
(어두운 길을 걷기 위해 곧은 길을 떠나는 자들로부터)

who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
(악한 일을 하는 것을 좋하고 삐뚤어진 악함을 기뻐하는 자들로부터,)

whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
(그의 길이 굽고 그들의 방법에서 정직하지 못한 자들로부터 구할 것이라.)

It will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words,
(지혜가 너를 또한 간음하는 여자들로부터, 또 유혹하는 말을 하는 방탕한 유부녀로부터 구할 것이며,)

who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.
(그녀의 젊은 시절의 배필을 떠나 그녀가 하나님 앞에서 한 약속을 무시하는 그런 여인으로부터 너를 구할 것이라.)

For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
(그녀의 집은 죽음으로 이끌어 내려가며, 그녀의 길은 죽은 자들의 영혼이 있는 곳으로 이끌어 가기 때문이라.)

None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.
(그녀에게로 간 어느 누구도 돌이키거나 생명의 길을 얻지 못하느니라.)

Thus you will walk in the ways of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous.
(이처럼 너는 선한 사람들의 길에서 걸을 것이며 의로운 사람들의 길을 따를 것이라.)

For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it；
(왜냐하면 정직한 자들은 그 땅에서 살게 될 것이고 흠이 없는 자들은 그 땅에 남게 될 것이나,)

but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
(사악한 자들은 땅에서 끊어지게 될 것이며 충실하지 못한 자들은 땅으로부터 찢겨질 것이기 때문이라.)
