Warning Against Careless Security And Pledge
(경솔한 보증과 담보에 대한 경고)
My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have struck hands in pledge for another,
(내 아들아, 만약 네가 너의 이웃을 위해 보증를 섰다면, 즉 네가 다른 사람을 위하여 담보 계약을 하였다면,)
if you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth,
(네가 만약 네가 말한 것에 의해 붙잡히게 되었고, 네 입의 말에 의해 걸려들게 되어졌다면,)
then do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor's hands: Go and humble yourself； press your plea with your neighbor!
(그러면, 내 아들아, 너를 구하기 위해 이렇게 하여라, 네가 네 이웃의 손에 빠지게 되었음으로, 가서 겸손하게 행동하고 네 이웃에게 강하게 애원하여라.)
Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids.
(네 눈에 잠을 허락하지말고, 즉 네 눈거풀에 잠을 허락하지 말아라.)
Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
(사냥꾼의 손에서 도망치는 영양처럼, 새 사냥꾼의 덫에서 도망치는 새처럼 너를 구원하여라.)
Go to the ant, you sluggard； consider its ways and be wise!
(너 게으른 자여, 개미에게 가서, 그 방식을 살펴보고 지혜롭게 되어라!)
It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,
(그것은 지휘관도, 감독관도, 통치자도 없으나,)
yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
(그것은 여름에 식량을 쌓아두고, 추수 때에 음식을 모으니라.)
How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?
(너 게으른 자여, 얼마나 오래동안 거기에 누워있을 것이냐? 언제 너의 잠에서 깨어 일어날 것이냐?)
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest -
(조금만 더 자자, 조금만 더 졸자, 조금만 더 손을 모으고 쉬자고 하면)
and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.
(가난이 도적처럼 네게 올 것이고 궁핍함이 무장한 자처럼 올 것이니라.)
A scoundrel and villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth,
(불한당과 악당, 즉 부패한 말을 계속하며,)
who winks with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers,
(그의 눈으로 눈짓하며, 발로 신호하며 손가락으로 지시하며,)
who plots evil with deceit in his heart - he always stirs up dissension.
(그의 마음에 거짓으로 악을 꽤하는 자들은, 즉 그들은 항상 불화을 일으키느니라.)
Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant； he will suddenly be destroyed - without remedy.
(그러므로, 재앙이 순간 그에게 덮칠 것이며, 그는 갑자기 멸망할 것이나, 구제할 방법이 없느니라.)
There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:
(그러므로 여호와께서 미워하시는 여섯가지 것, 즉 그에게 혐오스러운 일곱가지가 있으니,)
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
(교만한 눈과, 거짓말하는 혀와, 무죄한 자의 피를 흘리는 손과,)
a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,
(사악한 계략을 꾸미는 마음과, 악으로 달려가는데 빠른 발과,)
a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
(거짓말을 쏟아내는 거짓 증인과 형제들 사이에서 불화를 일으키는 사람이라.)
