Proverbs about Kings
(왕에 대한 잠언)
The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth should not betray justice.
(왕의 입술은 하나님의 말씀처럼 말하고, 그의 입술은 정의를 배신해서는 안되느니라.)
Honest scales and balances are from the LORD； all the weights in the bag are of his making.
(정직한 저울과 천징은 여호와께로부터 왔고, 가방의 모든 추는 그가 직접 만드신 것이라.)
Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness.
(왕들은 악행을 미워하니, 왕좌는 공의로움을 통해 확고해지기 때문이니라.)
Kings take pleasure in honest lips； they value a man who speaks the truth.
(왕들은 정직한 입을 즐거워하나니, 그들은 진실을 말하는 사람을 소중히 여기느니라.)
A king's wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will appease it.
(왕의 분노는 죽음의 사자이나, 지혜로운 사람은 그의 분노를 달래느니라.)
When a king's face brightens, it means life； his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.
(왕의 얼굴이 밝을 때는, 그것이 생명을 의미하나니, 그의 은택은 봄 날의 비구름과 같으니라.)
How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver!
(지혜를 얻는 것이 금을 얻는 것보다 얼마 더 나은가, 지식을 선택하는 것이 은을 선택하는 것보다 얼마나 더 나은가!)
The highway of the upright avoids evil； he who guards his way guards his life.
(정직한 사람의 탄탄대로는 악을 피하나니, 그의 길을 지키는 사람은 그의 삶을 지키느니라.)
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
(교만은 파괴에 앞서서 가고, 오만한 마음은 넘어짐에 앞서서 가느니라.)
Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.
(마음을 낮추고 억압받는 자들 사이에 있는 것이 교만한 자와 탈취물을 나누는 것 보다 나으니라.)
